Artificial Intelligence as a Basis for Computer Literacy Course

Most attempts at computer  literacy tend to  dwell on the  technologically
superficial aspects of  the computing phenomenon  -- "electronic  driver's
education." We  show how  the  discussion and  analysis of  examples  from
Artificial Intelligence (AI) can lead to a meaningful understanding of the
potentials and limitations of computation.

LISP as a Basis for Mathematics and Computer Science

LISP is the primary language for  Artificial Intelligence. It is also  the
basic formalism used in studying  the mathematics of computation. We  show
how one can develop  a deep understanding  of traditional mathematics  and
the mathematics  of  computer science  from  the notions  of  high  school
algebra.
